Created Yummly's Pasta Design System, adopted by 5 designers and 16 engineers across iOS, Android and web, and released Quieto Design System 1.0, an open source token and Lit component system. Grounded in print and editorial design, and uses Claude Code and Cursor daily to prototype and ship faster.

Work Experience 2016 – present

Design Engineer, Freelance (Dillon Schultz Design)

– Present
  • Design and build custom, responsive client websites code-first, owning each project from scope through deployment and post-launch support.
  • Integrate third-party APIs and CMS platforms, and treat accessibility, performance, SEO and cross-browser compatibility as baseline standards on every engagement.
  • Prototype at higher fidelity with Claude Code and Cursor before the final build, and verify generated code in the browser before it ships.
  • Build and maintain open source design system tooling, including Quieto Design System and Quieto Tokens (see Relevant Projects).

Senior UI/UX Designer, Yummly

–
  • Created the Pasta Design System and led its adoption across iOS, Android and web for 5 designers and 16 engineers, completing the rollout in one year.
  • Architected a three-tier token system (about 700 tokens) and npm package for web, and pair-programmed with iOS, Android and web engineers to keep tokens in parity across codebases.
  • Reached 100% design adoption and about 100% iOS, 50% web and 40% Android engineering adoption, backed by a 42-component Figma library covering brand, accessibility and theming.
  • Enabled a SwiftUI component migration that cut the iOS codebase by 63%, after which sprint story points completed rose 43% and issues resolved rose 45%.
  • Led the search redesign from user research through implementation, replacing all 6 legacy search screens with Pasta components.
  • Ran weekly design reviews and office hours, mentoring designers, and wrote UI pattern documentation that became the single source of truth for design-to-engineering handoff.

Software Engineer, Proctorio

–
  • Built and maintained Roos, a Web Components library for the company's Chrome extension, chosen to keep the bundle small, and migrated 70% of the extension's legacy screens to it.
  • Designed, built and deployed the company website with Eleventy, Tailwind and Sanity.io, letting Marketing publish a blog post in minutes instead of about a day.
  • Documented design system standards to reduce implementation ambiguity for engineering teams.

Frontend Developer, Handled

–
  • Built Get a quote, a white-labeled moving-cost calculator for Mayflower and United Van Lines, on an internal GraphQL pricing API.
  • Developed an internal React and TypeScript component library aligned with the company design system, and added end-to-end tests to raise coverage on production interfaces.

Graphic Designer, Madden Media

–
  • Designed print and digital work for tourism clients, including the 64-page Travel Wisconsin Art & Craft Fairs directory and 54-page Events guide, built on master pages, style sheets and grids.
  • Created style guides and high-fidelity comps for accurate developer handoff, plus web layouts and marketing collateral.

Publication Designer, Well Being Journal

–
  • Sole designer of a bimonthly magazine across 9–10 issues, from layout and feature spreads through preflight and prepress with the printer.

Volunteer

Volunteer Designer, American Red Cross

– Present
  • Design email campaigns and social media collateral.
